Test your Strength, Endurance,

and Mental Focus!

Saturday, September 28, 2024.

4 p.m. at the Community Stage

The goal is simple – hold a full liter stein longer than anyone else!

  • Competitors must use only one hand, keeping the stein held at arm's length without spilling a drop.

  • Every participant will be provided with a commemorative glass stein, filled with ice-cold beer for the competition.

  • Once the challenge is complete, the stein is yours to keep – and, of course, you get to enjoy the beer!

One male and one female winner will be crowned and will receive an awesome prize!

Participants must be 21 or older.

To win a stein hoisting competition....

Here's what it takes:

  • Grip Strength: The ability to hold a heavy stein (usually around 5 pounds when filled) with one hand for an extended period is crucial. Building grip strength through exercises like deadlifts, farmer’s carries, and forearm workouts can help.

  • Shoulder and Arm Strength: Since the stein must be held at arm's length, strong shoulder and arm muscles (especially the deltoids) are essential to prevent early fatigue.

  • Endurance: Holding the stein steady for several minutes without dropping it or letting your arm sag is all about stamina. Long-duration static holds or isometric exercises (like planks or wall sits) help train muscle endurance.

  • Posture and Form: Good posture is key. The arm should be fully extended, parallel to the ground, and the stein must be level. Proper form ensures you don’t get disqualified or tire out prematurely.

  • Mental Toughness: Enduring the burn and fatigue that come with holding a heavy object for a long time requires focus and willpower.

  • Breathing Control: Slow, controlled breathing helps manage muscle fatigue and keeps your body calm as the competition progresses.
